Infant Massage

Classes

Join me at one of my Tum e Time classes, where movement and massage are blended into an exciting and fun-filled educational class or at a 1.5 hour infant massage class at BirthWays.

I am also available for both individual and group sessions. I can make home visits or arrange to present to a mom’s group. Sessions last approximately 1.5 hours and include a written plan, oil and the visit. Shorter sessions can be arranged to accommodate for toddlers, preschoolers and teens.

My approach to infant massage comes from my background in early childhood development. By gaining an understanding of each child’s abilities we can enhance their progress through massage. Together, we explore muscular, skeletal and organ systems and how they relate to touch. The class offers an insight into the natural processes of your child’s development.

Touch is as essential as food and water in a child's development. Back rubs, hugs and massages offer interactions that foster self-image, respect and trust. Through touch, families and caregivers are able to listen, communicate, and read cues more effectively.

Infant massage is a loving interaction that takes place between you and your baby. Massage strokes are easy to learn and the benefits are lifelong.

Research has shown that infant massage:

· relieves colic, gas and constipation
· reduces discomfort from teething, congestion and stress
· promotes deeper sleep
· regulates and strengthens the immune, digestion and nervous systems
· enhances verbal and nonverbal communication
· aids in circulation
· improves muscle tone
· introduces body awareness
· increases confidence in parenting
